We should never have a cavalier Unlocking Transcendence Review attitude when it comes to offering an apology. I am in no way stating that we do not make mistakes or wrong decisions that cause harm to others. After all, we are not perfect in ourselves; but our perfection is through Jesus Christ (Philippians 4:13). That is why everything we do; including apologizing, should be based on the Word of God.
We should always exemplify a spirit of confession and repentance when we have offended or oppressed others. People of God should always have a mentality to accept the apologies of others, forgive them, and forgive ourselves. We should always show concern and empathy for others. This type of behavior brings honor to God.
Sometimes apologies are not about an admission of guilt or wrongdoing. For example, sometimes we may have to speak the truth in love; but, it may cause hurt feelings. As a believer, we are to allow the fruits of the Spirit to manifest in everything we do or say (Galatians 5:22-23). Unfortunately, exemplifying the fruits of the Spirit in our conversations and actions do not guarantee that there will not be hurt feelings among people.
