African Network
The work that we do aligns with the work of the African Union’s Ecological Organic Agriculture Initiative (EOAI).
The African Union’s EAOI Strategic Plan 2020-2025 is summarised in this graphic.
The EOAI is activated through National Organic Agriculture Movements (NOAMS) in the various countries and SAOSO is the South African NOAM. The African body representing organics in Africa is AfroNet.The regional IFOAM body representing the NOAMs for Southern Africa is the IFOAM Southern African Network (ISAN) to which SAOSO is affiliated.
SAOSO is also the South African partner in the Knowledge Hub for Organic Agriculture in Southern Africa (KHSA) which falls under the Sustainability Institute. KHSA is a collaborative country-led partnership funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaftfür Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
It is one of five Knowledge Hubs for Organic Agriculture in Africa pursuing the goal of disseminating knowledge and shaping a network on a national, regional and continental level.
